چکیده

Origanum vulgare L., the most complex and variable species of genus Origanum, is used to cure various diseases in traditional medicinal system. In current investigation, O. was collected from its natural origin further multiplied for two years at experimental farm DIBER field station, Auli, afterwards, it grown three different altitudes, i.e., station Auli (2744 m), Pithoragarh (1524 Haldwani (412 under conditions. The essential oil extracted using Clevenger apparatus analyzed by GC/MS GC/FID. total phenolic, flavonoid, tannin content methanolic extracts all cultivations were estimated Folin–Ciocalteu reagent, aluminium chloride Folin–Denis methods, respectively. antioxidant activity oils also DPPH, ABTS, reducing power methods. highest amount phenolics, flavonoids, tannins obtained cultivation. Thymol major component contributing 38.81% (Auli), 52.83% (Pithoragarh), 31.86% (Haldwani) oil. exhibited oregano cultivation, followed Haldwani, alcoholic extract cultivation had activity. study infers that plant demonstrated good results terms fresh weight, yield, potential, EO composition when higher altitudes.
